Bonaire in the Dutch Caribbean has been long time known as a prime destination for Scuba Divers and Snorkelers. Its pristine waters and the conservation efforts (marine park since 1979) feature a healthy and fun reef for everybody to learn and enjoy.

Rich in Bio-diversity is home of more than 60 different types of soft and hard corals, as well as more than 350 fish species. Adult Sea turtles come here to nest from approximately may until january and juveniles are often spotted. Sharks and rays are also living on the park and are commonly seeing in various areas and dive sites. Lucky divers and snorkelers can also be greeted by marine mammals such as dolphins or even whales that pass by along the island’s coast.

With more than 100 dive sites to choose from (Official and un-official) it can be challenging for divers and snorkelers to choose and get the best out of their dives.

Private Guiding

Private Guides are becoming more popular among Bonaire’s certified scuba divers. Although Bonaire is known as the “Diver’s Paradise” due to it’s freedom in the way that you can just take a car, some gear and walk out of the beach to scuba dive very few know is that logistics involved can be challenging.

Having somebody taking care of planning and logistics (picking up tanks, gear, checking conditions, surface intervals, etc…) will allow you to relax and enjoy your dives while still maximising the outcome.

Finding special creatures (frogfish, seahorses, turtles, rays, etc.) requires not only skills but also knowledge and constant diving of the area. Private guides are constantly in the water during the year and share with other schools and guides their knowledge to be able to assist customers in more quality dives.

For certified divers that have not been diving for a while and are a little rusty on their skills the assistance of a Private Guide can be of great help, reducing anxiety and more important increasing safety along your dives.

Alejandro has been living on the island of bonaire since 2011.

Alejandro Gutiérrez Murillo.

Passionate about the ocean in 2010 decided to abandon his 7 year successful career as an Electronic Engineering for Intel Corporation and dedicate his time to what he really loves, the ocean. Being already a diver for a while, the same year he achieved all the requirements to become a PADI Master Scuba Instructor. Destiny was in charge of placing him on the island of Bonaire where for the first two years worked as a PADI Master Scuba Instructor at Buddy Dive Resort.

Since 2014, he has been working as a private guide and instructor for his own company. He has lead several dives not only on the calm west side of Bonaire but also has been part of research and exploration groups along the rough east coast of the island as well as Bonaire’s underwater cave system. He is an active member of CARIBSS (Caribbean Speleological Society).

Alejandro is also an avid Underwater Photographer and has taken on photography projects for several companies on Bonaire, including Woodwind Snorkel, Sea Cow Bonaire, Stinapa, Mangazina di Rei and Sea Turtle Conservation Bonaire.
